The Swiss Courier, by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey
I’m not going to review this book. If I’m going to be honest with you, it wasn’t very good, and if you’re going to be honest with me, you weren’t really going to go out and read this one.
I am going to use the very tenuous connection to make an announcement, about some changes in my life and lifestyle that are going to affect me, as well as this blog I expect. As happens with life’s unexpected twists and surprises, my family is uprooting from Calgary and touching down again in Geneva, Switzerland.
Living abroad has long been a dream of mine, and when Z received a great job opportunity in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, well, it pretty much was a no-brainer. Especially since X is still so little, now is the perfect time, before he’s in school. So we leave the frozen tundra of Canada to the slightly less frozen slopes of the Alps.
Obviously, we are so excited about the move, although in the meantime there are approximately one million things to do, hence the lack of blogging lately. I am also really excited about what it’s going to mean for this blog. To be honest, I’m not even sure what to expect from myself. What has become a food and book blog might start to focus more on travel, or living abroad, or life as an immigrant in a strange but lovely country. I’m certain I’ll still be reading, and I definitely will still be cooking. I’m so looking forward to diving into a new cuisine (probably more French, with a lot of focus on cheese and chocolate!) I’m sure there will be other new adventures, which I hope includes exploring Lichtenstein – because c’mon, Lichtenstein. I’m also going to try to learn German, as well as take up alpine skiing (eep!) I’m sure life as an ex-pat will contain other unexpected surprises, both happy and not.
So that’s what’s going on with this Lifestyle Junkie. I will keep you up to date on the upcoming move, as well as all the new exciting things that will happen once we arrive in Geneva.
